ACRYLIC COLLAGE
For many decades, the golden ratio has been considered a criterion of beauty, but if we ask ourselves: what is the relationship between mathematics and beauty? Many experts believe that we innately find facial proportions that fit the golden ratio more beautiful – that Փ is the secret to a beautiful face.
I came across the fascinating world of beauty and the Dr Stephen Marquardt research on his invention created a mask based on golden ratio proportions. He used the mask to guide patients undergoing plastic surgery so that they could achieve the best results.
It brings up some important questions about the definition of beauty and whether it is a standard that applies universally to all human races throughout history.
Does the concept of universality that the golden ratio embodies hold any significance for our identity as humans? Additionally, the notion that we must conform to this ratio to be considered beautiful is concerning. What are the implications of such an idea? In fact, imperfections can sometimes make a face more charming and unique.
In my paintings, I used images of Greek beauty and faces with different features and races, and I added mirrors so that the recipient finds himself part of the painting. I also added shapes to the divisions of the golden rectangle, as in mathematical theories, so that we can search together for the standard of physical beauty that is determined by that ratio, and here I was overcome with questions: Is it possible to determine Beauty by a specific mathematical or numerical standard? Is it a universal standard
